Questions about Pro-finder

Pro-finder can naturally also be used without a WiPro:
Thanks to the integrated GPS receiver, you can use the locating function. Geofencing is likewise possible (can be activated via text message or voltage input). As are the voltage measurement inputs and the switching outputs for up to 2 electrical consumers. Output A also for disconnect or kill function (ignition interruption via external relay).

You communicate via text message with your Pro-finder or the Pro-finder with you. Ideally with our Thitronik app.

For Pro-finder up to serial number -044, the SIM card must work in the GSM (2G) and UMTS (3G) network and be able to handle SMS and telephony. A pure data card (e.g. for tablets), as well as multi-SIM cards do not work.

From Pro-finder serial number -045 the SIM card must work in LTE (4G) network, SMS, telephony and data.

General:
SIM cards from the provider beachSIM do not currently work with the Pro-finder. If these SIM cards are used with the Pro-finder, this may result in SMS messages being sent repeatedly due to problems with confirmation and delivery. beachSIM is currently working on this problem. Until a solution is found, SIM cards from beachSIM must not be used with the Pro-finder.

Austria:
Some cards from A1 do not work in Pro-finder. They have a 3G (UMTS) version of the SIM that sends text messages differently. Pro-finder cannot work with these cards. Older cards from A1 work. The prepaid version from A1 has worked in all known cases thus far except for automated querying of the balance, as described in the table.

Switzerland:
The following do not work: normal Swisscom, Swisscom-Prepaid, M-Budget, Orange.
The following work reliably: Salt PrePay, Sunrise Prepaid airbag, Sunrise Prepaid Unlimited.

5G SIM cards:
5G SIM cards must be activated for 4G use by the network operator. Please contact the customer hotline of your SIM card provider or network operator directly.

Note: Does not apply to Telekom-contracted SIM cards supplied with Pro-finders until 03/2021, or to Telekom-contracted SIM cards made available by THITRONIK® premium partners from Q4 2021.

For trips outside your country, SIM roaming must be active.

1. Please insert the SIM for example into a smartphone or a cell phone.
2. Open the settings of the phone.

3. Select Biometrics and Security, sometimes also called Lock Screen and Fingerprints.

4. Scroll down and select "More security settings".

5. Select "Set SIM lock".

6. Activate SIM Lock. Enter your current SIM PIN and select OK.

7. Select "Change SIM PIN".

8. Enter 0000 as your NEW SIM PIN and select OK.

9. Please confirm your new SIM PIN 0000 and select OK.

10. Exit the smartphone settings.

11. Select the phone icon to deactivate the answering machine and enter the deactivation code: ##002#.

    * This code differs from one operator to another. Please check with your SIM card operator.

12. Please wait and select OK.

The configuration of your SIM card is now complete. Please follow the instructions in the Pro-finder user guide.

The operating mode preset in the as-delivered condition is ‘0’, the most commonly used operating mode. It only sends messages in an emergency and is otherwise always reachable for you. We recommend leaving this set if there are no special requirements for the device.

The round white selector switch on the front of the Pro-finder is the operating mode switch. This is where you set the operating mode.

The WiPro III is a modular system that permits later addition of components at any time.
Thus, you can easily react to changes in the vehicle conditions or your personal safety requirements.

Version 2.0 of the easy-add function enables teach-in of wireless accessories on the central control unit either with a wireless remote control or the driver-side door (CAN):

• Disconnect the power to the WiPro III central control unit for about 10 seconds.
• Reconnect the power and either press the large button / loudspeaker button on the wireless remote control 868 5 times or open and close the driver-side door 5 times within 30 seconds.
• WiPro acknowledges this with a beep and the status LED in the dashboard lights up continuously in red – the alarm system is now ready for teach-in of a new wireless accessory. Now trigger the wireless accessory by opening/closing. From the central control unit, 2 different signal tones sound as acknowledgement.
• Disconnect the power again and reconnect. – That’s it.                                                                                                                                            

In combination with the Pro-finder (software-dependent), the teach-in operation can also be started via a text message command (easy add 3.0) without interrupting the power supply. Please use the Thitronik app for this.

Yes, an upgrade for the Pro-finder to 4G is possible. This upgrade is available for devices with serial number 008 to 044. Follow the steps below to perform the upgrade:

• Upgrade (leave) Pro-finder
• Fill out, print and sign this form.
• Send both to Thitronik (without any other accessories).
• Pro-finder will be upgraded to the latest hardware and software version.
• Return shipment incl. invoice (direct debit)
• Re-installation of the locating device Pro-finder
• Changing the serial number in the THITRONIK® app to 045 or higher.
• Sending the programming SMS again via the THITRONIK® app.

All Pro-finder with SN-008 - SN-044 are upgradeable.

Please use the THITRONIK® App to avoid general errors in the syntax when programming the Pro-finder. If programming fails despite the app, please check the following error sources:

Error sources with Android operating system:
If the Pro-finder does not respond despite programming with the THITRONIK® App or if the Pro-finder responds to normal commands such as "Status" with "invalid command" after programming by another cell phone, your smartphone is probably using Unicode to send the SMS. This can be changed on Android devices under the message settings (->Settings ->Additional settings ->SMS ->Input mode) e.g. to ASCII or GSM alphabet. You can access the message settings either from the message app or the main settings.

Error sources with iOS operating system:
If the Pro-finder shows no reaction at all, although it was configured according to the programming with the THITRONIK® App or if it reacts to normal commands like 'Status' with "Invalid command", it should be advisable to deactivate the iMessage function on the iPhone that was originally used for the initial configuration of the Pro-finder.

Counter-question: Was the Pro-finder already enabled to do this with a programming text message?

This has to be done first. Without the appropriate programming, it does what it is supposed to do – ignore ‘foreign’ commands.

If programming was done from the app and you didn’t receive a status report afterwards, the SIM card was probably already in the device before it was activated by the provider. In that case, the Pro-finder must be disconnected from the power supply for 5 seconds in order for the SIM card to log in again. Then the power supply should be restored. After about a minute, you should be able to get a response.

If the connection cable between the devices was plugged in on both sides (i.e. mechanical cause can be ruled out) and the WiPro status (‘WiPro off/on’) actually appears in the first line in the status reports, then presumably the wrong prepaid query code was used or, if a contract card is used, a query code was entered. Then the Pro-finder is stuck in a loop in an alarm situation, of all times, until it receives a negative response from the provider.
Please correct the programming! Feel free to use the Thitronik app for this.

The text messages are sent one after the other. This means that if the alarm is disarmed quickly enough, further destination phone numbers may in certain circumstances no longer even be informed.
